NWSA Women’s Center Pre-Conference Welcome

By Joanna Snawder

Hello Fabulous Feminists and the like! Hopefully many, or all of you reading this are attending NWSA in Cincinnati, in a mere 2 days.  We have a compelling lineup of your colleagues and peers this year, including: discussions of Taboo Topics at Faith Based Institutions, Body Image, Sex Positive Programming, Involving Men, Professional Intimacy and How to Bridge Theory with Practice…just to give you a glimpse.  It will be an energizing day full of opportunities to connect, network and exchange groundbreaking ideas that could possibly make a difference at your institution.  As one of your Co-Chairs for the 2013 Pre-Conference, I always look forward to this day, especially for the very specific camaraderie that we share, just by existing as the small number of women’s center staff who gather annually.  Where else do we get to do this?  I relish in this Pre-Conference, every time.

This year, as in years past, we will be soliciting support from any and all interested in helping out for the 2014 Conference.  If you have visions of what you would like to see at the next pre-conference, make your voice heard!  Nora Spencer, my stellar co-chair, will be looking for support for 2014–and a lil’ birdie told me that it is in Puerto Rico!

Times to note at the Pre-Conference (Thursday, November 7):

  • 7:30 a.m. Breakfast with Welcome to commence at 8:15, Duke Energy Convention Center: 233
  • Poster Session!  Do not miss the WC Posters in the Junior Ballroom Lobby from 10:25-11:30
  • WCC Shared Session: Navigating Policy, Compliance and Difficult Situations Using Title IX as A Case Study, 1:10-2:25

And we would be remiss not to mention the annual WCC Business Meeting on Friday November 8, 2013 in the Duke Energy Convention Center, room 238.

Don’t forget your swag for the giveaway table! See ya in Cincy!
